For abrasion and cleaning when melting gold and silver alloys.

The precious metal, gold- and silver-containing alloys, is subjected to oxidising melting. The base metals are transformed into oxides, while the precious metals remain unchanged.
The resulting metal is then available as working gold or silver.
Mix the metal residues and/or filings with the melting powder and fill the crucible with the metal/melting powder mixture.
The crucible should only be filled to a maximum of approx. 2/3 of its height, as the melting powder swells when heated and can leak out of the crucible.

During the melting process, the cleaned metal regulus collects at the bottom of the crucible and is poured into a block mould.

Usual quantity for melting: approx. 1 part melting powder : 1 part metal residue (dross)
